Although some commentators have stressed grades, I would place more stress on demonstrating why you are seeking an MBA at this point. A GPA of about 2.8 from (presumably) Cornell or Penn is not particularly impressive but not exactly shameful either. Regardless, admissions officers usually know not to take law school GPA at face value since the grading systems used by law schools are generally quite harsh. Further, in many ways law school is sui generis and not particularly indicative of how one would perform in a more quantitative program. Thus, I would expect far more scrutiny of your undergrad record.
Have you taken any coursework at your institution's business school?
