career goals :
a human resources type of job profile will suit me best but i'd settle for anything that pays best and, in the process learn and understand the job . i do not know how to put this in a very amicable manner, if there is any. but my dream is to be an entrepreneur/philanthropist. i would like to know how to explain my low gpa during my under grad. an honest answer to that would be my disappointment with the course. it wasn't challenging and i let complacency get the better of me!
i am planning to apply for the Masters in Management 2012. i have short listed the following universities: hec, lbs, duke, lse, warwick, imperial, hult, city university, em lyon
The MiM programs targeting people with a year or less of work experience assess applicants based on their undergraduate GPA, GMAT score, and the extracurricular and work experience that they have gained. I don't believe your GPA is low in comparison to other Indian applicants, so that doesn't strike me as the weakest link in your application. Rather, I feel that your lack of distinct career goals is going to be a stumbling block for you. A lot of people would like to be entrepreneurs and philanthropists, but if you have not demonstrated a track record of launching and leading businesses in the past, that isn't going to be convincing to an admissions committee. Instead, I would recommend that you focus on the areas of business that interest you and why. I would not mention what "pays best" in your application at all but rather focus on what impacts you would like to make through your career and why you are particularly suited for these.
