Hi guys, I am less than a week away from D day.
But my scores for SC just seems to plummet horribly for the past 3 weeks. I just did a gmatprep and i score 37 on Verbal. 14 mistakes. And 10 of those on SC!!

I have no idea why SC seems to get worse especially I devote most study time for it. Other sections such as math and verbal are ok thou...

pls advise me what i should do within the next 4 days??
do the 1000SC? or go thru error log for SC or simply take a break from SC???????

desperate....

I would sugest you start focusing on the type of questions that you are
typically making mistakes on.

Do not jump to the answer choices immediately as soon as you read the question. Focus on what could be wrong with questions.. Think about all the posibilites and apply what you have learnt to the question.

then look at the differences between the answer choices this also gives you a fair idea of the concepts that are being tested.

And then chose and answer.

So i think the idea is to ease off a little... do not time your self for some time .. until you get the concept right .... speed will come automaticaly form practice..

After all the studying you have done..have confidence in yourself and you will crack the section.. good luck.

Hmm.

I suspect you are a bit tired. When that happens, people often fall back to informal speaking, which is very poor grammar.

If you have something like Kaplan Premier, run through an SC exercise, and keep 2 rules in mind:

1 - remember singular tenses; I am, they are, etc.

2 - parallel - if the first part of the sentence uses a style, the part which completes the sentence will use the same style. Don't leave anything hanging, and make sure the completion clearly refers to what the first part is saying.

I'm guessing that will show improvement. And between now and the test, watch less TV, and read more books. That alone will help you focus on better grammar.

Hey vic,

I think you should not 'leave' SC even for a day, whatever happens maintain your schedule/plan & do few SCs (10 at least) everyday with proper reasoning. You will see day by day improvement.

All the best for your test, do well!

thanks guys... i'm doing 50 SC per day. I hope to see improvement. Otherwise, i really have to re-look my SC strategy from the very beginning...

not confident though... I am already considering my next test date...

I need at least 700...

Maybe, this helps to lessen some pressure...
