issue with work experience [#permalink] New post 10 Nov 2005, 08:33
I am planning to apply to a few top tier EMBA programs near my home. I have recently transitioned to an individual contributor role in a new company after having been in mid-level management for several years in prior companies. Does this seem like a big issue? Should I bring this topic up in my applications? If so, any suggestions on how I should address it? I do believe I can adequately address the issue in several ways, but as we all know, essay space is extremely valuable so it arguably could be put to better use. On the other hand, I wonder if it is wise to completely ignore it. My credentials are respectable otherwise (high gpa from top grad and undergrad universities, GMAT promising based on high practice scores, experience managing others with backgrounds like mine). Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't necessarily think that this will be an issue, but what you you mean by "individual contributor"? Do you mean someone who's not managing anyone? This isn't a big deal. Assuming you have a good story for why you joined the new company & took on the new role, I think you'll be okay.
