Hi Linda and Paul,
Among the schools that I am researching for operations, Kellogg's MMM program stands out. Other factors notwithstanding, I will have had two years work experience when I begin (hopefully) my MBA program in Fall 2007. Kellogg's specifically 'recommends' at least two years full-time workex.
Have you heard of candidates being admitted to Kellogg's with 2 years work ex? Please let me know what is your take on this.
Thanks!
Dogbert,
Yes, Kellogg has certainly admitted applicants with two years of work experience. But the middle 80% of their entering class has a minimum of 3 years of W/E (middle 80% age range: 26-34), so you can be sure that the
younger applicants they did admit were truly exceptional. That is, mature applicants whose W/E gives evidence of exceptional potential and who already have some of the accomplishments and responsibility levels of older applicants. Moreover, these younger admits will have made a good case for why they can't wait to earn the MBA and will have defined their goals well. If you are not sure whether you will be one of those applicants you may want to consider waiting to apply or being prepared to accept a ding and then reapplying the following year.
Good luck!
