Leadership example: which one? [#permalink]

I'd like your opinions. There's 2 examples I'd like to write about, but can't decide which one is better.
1. I took a new trader under my wing, by showing him how to trade and how to do the job. No one asked me to do this.. I just took the initiative.
2. I lead 2 strategies. I decide how million dollar trades are worked (traded) in the market. I don't really lead anyone, but it is a type of managerial position.

Personally, I don't see the "leadership" element in either case. Perhaps it is the lack of elaboration or the different definition of leadership.
I would say #2 is out. At least there is a "follower" in #1 for you to lead. So if you can show how you led him to achieve some objectives, it could be an example of your leadership.

1 is more probably (based on the little you say) more teamwork than leadership.
2 confuses "manager" with "leader".
