Hey everyone,
I have a question about MiM/Msc in Management programs and work experience. It’s clear that from looking at admission requirements that work experience is not one of them. However, by browsing the forums and looking at the average age of the students it seems that it does play a role. I am just curious about how big of a role does it play. Is it possible to be accepted into a top school with only a summer internship? Does it vary from school to school? I am currently looking at:
Emlyon (MiM and Entrepreneur programs)
Rotterdam School of Management
HEC Paris
Essec
Imperial College London (Management and Entrepreneur programs)
London School of Economics and Political Science (Msc Programs)
Msc at Queen's
Any help and advice will be much appreciated. I only recently started looking at these programs as possible alternatives to an Economics masters. We don’t really have these in Canada and it’s difficult to find people who went to them.

Having work experience will always help your CV and most of the MIM programs do require atleast 3 months to 1 year of work experience. For St. Gallen, IIM Ahmadabad you need 2 years of work experience and they are in the top 10 MIM programs. Most MIM program will have the option that you gain some sort of work experience during the program.
For Example, HEC paris you have the option of working for 37 weeks and then have the foundation year followed by the main program. some students don't join the first year if they have adequate work experience. Other universities have an internship after the program is complete.
