Does anyone know of some good books to read/study before orientation starts. Its been a long time since I had any Stats classes, and I have no background in Accounting/Finance?

I'd prefer not take any courses, just independent study over the summer.

I was thinking maybe people in this forum could help each other learn. For eg: I was a teacher assistant in Probability and Statistics back in my undergrad years, so I could put together some "basics" for everyone to look into. Likewise, other people could contribute based on their particular knowledge.

rhyme, since you are virtually unemployed, why don't you organize this?

Anyway, I'm going on holidays today and will be back in a couple of weeks. I could start the Stats thing, then, if there's enough interested people.

Option b) get the 10 -day MBA book for a summary of all main disciplines.

Boston, Ann Arbor, Evanston. Since I had to cancel my pre-app. visit to schools, I now have to visit in this weird time frame (i.e.: after applying). I may drop by at NYC or elsewhere, too, just for fun.

lepium, I think thats a great idea, but don't think it will completely replace bonafide study materials/books. I think it would complement it really well by offering the basics so we can all understand the material covered in more advanced books.

Happy travels!

Agreed. I think each one of us needs to invest some time to study the materials. What I suggested was more of a GMAT style Q&As with maybe some explanation of typical problems.

I do not think you guys will have trouble. I have taken some MBA classes, all you need is some basic Math. Most of MBA students at my school complain about Managerial Econ which has some derivative formulas.

I've been contemplating taking a summer course or 2. I bought a few books to read but I think I need a more structured approach.
