Mistake in application [#permalink] New post 02 Jan 2009, 02:50
One of my recommenders has mistakenly put in his date of birth instead of current date in the "Date field" of HBS recommendation questions.. Is there a way he can change it? or else whats the best thing he can do now?

I believe once something is submitted (application, recommendations) you can't go back and change anything. Since it's submitted electronically, I would think the adcom can see when it was actually submitted, so it wouldn't be a big deal. But if you're concerned, you can send an email to HBS admissions to see if you can clear up the mistake.

Adcoms generally will overlook a minor mistake in an app - so long as there aren't multiple mistakes. Especially in this case since it was your recommender's mistake not yours.

I messed up something pretty big in my app and Wharton/Chicago were both very nice about letting me adjust it after the fact to the correct version.

i submitted by haas recs and later reread them, found a couple typos and even a mistake in the year i put down as when started in my current job (it doesn't match my resume). i still got an interview (whew), but i guess i could still get dinged because of it.
