Dear applicants, it is very hard for me to recoup
the situation, but life is like that. GMAT literally
took over my life for about one year and three
attempts havent brought me the pleasure of what i was
expecting. So dont spoil your life too much. even
during preparation days i skipped many of my family
gatherings, left my wife and kid and parents
unattended and that time will not come back. Most
important thing in life is to recongnize that if you
have zeal and the sprit, you will ultimately succeed.
this thought gives me going. dont fight with your
wife, when she wants your company and you wants
dont let it take over your life.
Now another important advice. Try to recognize your
level. Because if you will practice hard questions
which does not match your skills then it is a waste of
time. you wont see such questions. i havent saw any of
the kind of math questions in quant section. it was
rubbish. majority of questions were (about 50%) data
sufficiency, and majority of them were a,b,c,d or
x,y,z etc, means that there is a high probability that
you will see questions of number properties type.
practice them. they are easy, but when you are taking
the test, they make you very annoyed. bogdan sent me
many questions from DS number properties which were
helpful. Ask him, he will send you, he is a nice guy
who can probably help you with your confidence. he did
in my case. Even after the test also. These guys are
doing a good service, and beside that they are not
charging anything. As for verbal section, i was
scoring very good on kaplan
material. SC practice test
score was very good on kaplan
material and i scored
average 17-18 question right out of 22. I was
expecting to improve things through my SC. But end up
worse than the previous times. I think ETS verbal
questions are the closest which you will see on the
real test. dont practice too hard than what your
average score is. I did GMAT800. it boosted my
confidence and gave me insight with the kind of
questions ETS tests, but i havent saw such difficult
questions on the real test. I am not saying that
material is not good. Bogdan practiced from
that material and he scored 750, but for my level it
was much more above. I think ETS is the closest one.
Now what plan you ppl should follow.
1. Practice from material other than ETS first for
about two to three months, but dont take any ETS test
in between until you are finishe with Peterson or
. I would say Peterson or Princeton review
much easier so do both and then do kaplan
. Then take
the ETS test through CD (only one test). Take is
seriously. sit at a place where no one can disturb you
and think like you are taking real test.
2. This will tell you where you stand. Verbal is the
key for international students, because we are
generally good in quant. Practice as much as you can
from Peterson or Princeton and try to recognize the
kind of mistakes ETS checks.
3. After you are done with all the practicing material
from peterson, princeton review
, and kaplan
all three are important for a person who is weak in
all areas) then practice from any old ETS book (i did
from 1992 ed. and 8th Edition) Then again take the CD
test (the second one).
4. Another great advice. Keep your preparation to four
months, and select a date and get yourself registered.
Try to keep focus in this short span of time.
Remember, GMAT preparation is not less than in any way
the study of one semester with full course load. you
have to study daily two hours. If you will do as i
did, spanning my preparation to one year, you will
loose what you have remembered in your previous
months. keep it short and hard (not simple). there is
no simple way. Atleast for international students.
Memorize idioms, they will help you recognize wrong
All these advices are for free, because i want that
you should remember me in your good thoughts and
prayers. I wish you all the best. And stop having
arguments with your wife for this stupid GMAT.
And anyone please give me advice that should i go for
the fourth time. I guess Bogdan can ask his freinds
and his univ.'s admission ppl. if it is helpful, most
probably i will appear one more time. BYE for now. if
there are any other questions, you can ask bogdan and
he will redirect me if he feels like, but i think he
can help you a lot. And bogdan, you should start your
own councilling business after graduation. HA!
P.S. I did not want to be recognized, so I registered under a diff. user name.
