need urgent help-when does the on screen timer begin [#permalink] New post 19 Nov 2003, 03:04
hii all
i will be taking GMAT on 21st
i have a query
in the powerprep software the computer screen displays directions and the timer shows 1.15 .
this happens before you begin any section
and as soon as you click on the PROCEED button the timer immediately shows 1.14
this happens irrespective of the time you spend reading the directions.now do this happen in the actual test ..any one experienced this in the real test
this means that even if you use 2-3 minutes reading the directions your testing time will be the time
so can i use that time arranging my scrap paper (writing options A,B,C,D,E) so that during the test i can use process of elimination by crossing the answer choices .
i hope i am clear
any one who has experienced this in the real test please let me know ASAP
thanks

Before pressing PROCEED time does't start so u can use that time to write options on Scratch paper.
But i would suggest that do it right in the beginning soon after entering your Universities list. Prepare for both quant and verbal at this time so that u dont have to worry later about it.
thanks and hope i was clear...

AD,

The staffs won't take your scratch papers away until the end of the exams. But during the 5-mins break, you can exchange for another 6 scratch papers. hope this helps :)

The reason why it shows 1:14 when you click proceed is because the time reduces by 1 second from 1:15:00 to 1:14:49. The software doesn't dispay seconds until you're down to the last few minutes.

Time begins when the directions for the first type of question appears.
