This might be surprising to some and controversial but this is my honest opinion. A lot of people bad mouth the NOVA book. Some bad mouth it because of the reputation of Steve Kolby, the author.

I happen to like it. Why? because it has some good strategies and explanations (I developed my logic presentation as an extension of some of Nova's stuff) that are not present in other books. (for example, the difference between deductive and inductive reasoning, etc.) and a very nice section on logic flaws. Plus, the book has a nice recap of all the stuff you need to know for the quant sections.

In addition, the questions are nicely segregated by type so drilling my students on a particular topic is easy.

The bad is endemic of all non ETS prep book in that some of the questions are simply bad. However, the organization of the book and practical strategies included outweigh the blemishes, IMHO.

If I were to pick only two books, I would choose the OAG and the NOVA book. Really.

:)

How about the tests [#permalink] New post 07 Mar 2004, 20:52
Thanks for the critic, I am taking my test at the end of the month. I have taken 2 of the Nova practicet tests and got 620 and 610.

If you have taken the tests, how did you think they compared to the real thing.

Thanks,

Actually a number of people found it fairly helpful.
Here is a link to some reviews. I have not used the book myself though
