Thank you very much for your time.

I am currently working at a large pharmaceutical company in the area of marketing/analytics.

Prior to that, I was a strategy/management consultant to the pharmaceutical sector for 7 years.

I graduated with a 3.1 GPA from MIT majoring in Chemical Engineering in 2002. Took the GMAT and scored a 710--50 Quant and 38 Verbal (breakdown may be off, but total score is correct).

Wondering about my candidacy for Fall of 2012. I know that I am an older candidate and I will apply part time as a safety.

Thank you again.

Nice to hear from another MIT alum! I was course 15 at MIT before I got my MBA at Wharton.

What schools are you targeting? What consulting firm did you work for?

Depending on your target schools, you could have a good shot. That said, you are older than average so that will not help. How much leadership do you have at work? People underneath you?

These things will all impact your candidacy, as well as what you do outside of work. Feel free to contact me privately if you don't want to publish answers to these questions, but they will help me give you a better evaluation.

Hi

Average work ex notwitstanding, you have a strong profile for the top schools. Its critical to present your application in the light of what you can contribute to the class and to fellow students, given your rich experience. The adcomm will also be interested in knowing your performance at work and how you have risen in your career till date.

Feel free to reach us for any advice.

Hi misterchipper,

First, do not be concerned about your age at all. Particularly if you have a history of progression in your career, you should absolutely not be concerned about an imaginary "cut-off" age.

Let us know which programs you are considering and we'd be happy to provide more information.

Hope to hear from you.

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team

Hi repper001,

A number of reputable MBA programs offer part time programs. Kellogg and the University of Chicago, for example, have part-time MBA programs.

Cheers,
