Hi,

I would appreciate you can share your expert evaluation of my profile:

Age: 26
Ethnicity: Asian Canadian
WE: 3 years (p/t in retail bank), 4 years (f/t 2 years in investment and 2 years in FX sales and trading)
WE2: On the side, I had one successful startup (integrated employment portal) and one failed startup (fashion mobile app)
GMAT: 710 (Q50 V35)
School: University of Toronto
Program: Economics
GPA: 2.26, and class average was 2.35 (cumulative)

Target:
Columbia, NYU, Booth, LBS

My biggest concern is the GPA, and I am wondering whether schools will take the class average into consideration (2.35!!!). Schools in the states are notorious for giving out generous grades, but my school was exactly the opposite.

Thanks in advance!

Your ethnicity and citizenry should make for an interesting profile for the adcoms. Canada is under-represented in US schools and I assume at LBS as well. Your GMAT is good, and should counter-balance the GPA. Your career pool is competitive with banking, but there has been a decrease in the past couple of years in banking professionals returning to b-school because they do not want to give up their jobs right now. Wild card may be Booth, which was just picked as #1 b-school in the country this year by B/BW. This may result in more applications there. I would say overall you should have a good shot with well written stories on why you want the MBA and how you will leverage it after you graduate. Someone with your credentials and a well packaged application should get the attention of the admissions committees at your target schools.
