Profile Evaluation Needed [#permalink] New post 11 Aug 2011, 06:24
Hi there,

I took up my GMAT today and score 740 (Q 50, v 40). I did my from JNTU Anantapur (University college in India) with a score of 80%. And awarded two gold medals at the university level for scoring the highest marks.
I had done my M.Tech from NIT Trichy with a GPA 9.2 . I have 7 years of work experience and 4 years as a Technical lead in IT industry.

I have 3 years of Onsite (worked in USA) experience.

Extra Curricular Activities : almost none..except for blogging occasionally..

I am aiming at Indian School of Business.. Can you please let me know my changes of getting admission.

Apart from that school, can you please list of any school which will match my profile..(both in USA & India).

Thanks Much

Hello jahnavic07, thanks for your question.

It sounds like your GMAT and GPA will certainly open the door at Indian School of Business. That said, it will be the quality of your experience that will get you in. Your competitiveness will come down to the quality of your work experience. Can you draw upon “moments” when you truly led: influenced individuals and organizations, drove results, took initiative?

Your lack of extracurriculars could be a potential obstacle. Other than official volunteer activities, you may be able to speak to how you engage with the world. If you can discuss your interests and passions and show the admissions committees how you take initiative, lead, and collaborate in those arenas, you could mitigate the lack of your formal extracurricular activities.

You’ve also not mentioned your post-MBA goals. The onus will be on you to connect your past and present experience with your future career plans.

It’s hard to handicap your chances without knowing more information. In terms of school selection, of course it comes down to more than GPA and GMAT stats. What specifically are you looking to get out of an MBA? The more details with which you can answer that question, the easier it will be to ascertain good fits among programs.

Best of luck,
