Profile Evaluation, Please [#permalink] New post 09 Aug 2012, 22:46
Hello,

I am a recent college graduate requesting an evaluation of my business school chances in a few years, when I intend to apply. My dream school is Stanford. My father has a Ph.D. from Stanford GSB and he was once an actively involved alumnus. He sat on the Stanford Alumni Board of Directors for a few years. That was 10+ years ago, and he is no longer heavily involved.

Attached is a (redacted) copy of my resume. In a couple of weeks I will go to work for Deloitte Consulting as a Business Analyst in Strategy and Operations. I intend to stay lightly involved with casual community service (maybe 50 hours a year or so), but for the most part I plan to focus on succeeding at work.

Would you be willing to evaluate my chances assuming I am promoted to Consultant and stay with Deloitte for 3 or 4 years? I am most interested in Stanford GSB, but I would also appreciate your comments on which business schools I could target or reach for.

I have already taken the GMAT
Score: 770 (Q 49, V 47)
AWA: 6.0
IR: 8.0

My college GPA was 3.73, but only 3.56 in my last 2 years. I double majored in Economics and Political Science. I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

BTW, I am a white male.

Thank you for your help.

With a 770, your professional career, and your Dad on the alumnus Board, you are pretty much in as good as a position as anyone could possibly be. Succeeding at work, and continuing to volunteer is a very good basis. Other things that are good for Stanford: 1. Political involvement (if this interests you) 2. Leadership - in and out of work 3. Visionary - Stanford tends to like unique sort of folks. Not just smart and from the right family, but you gotta have a plan that is more than just "keep on succeeding in the corporate world", although that's not bad either... but cultivate your vision!
