This is a great forum with excellent people. I have been planning for an MBA for a while but wasn't able to work on in till now. Here are some details:

Age:
Will be 30 when applying for 2013 admissions

Education:
Undergrad in a Computer-related Engineering field (outside North America and Europe), GPA 4/4
Master's Degree in a Computer-related engineering field from a top Canadian university, GPA 4/4

Work Experience:
~3 years engineering in a leading semiconductor company (doing software)
~4 years (by round 1) in a small and fast growing american software company
started in tech position but currently hold a management position in one of departments at the company

GMAT: 760+

Extra-curricular: very good.. both in university but mainly in an NGO.

Planning for R1/R2 for 2013 admissions..

I understand my profile is not weak, but should I be concerned about age? I do have some top schools in mind, but I have been reading that age may be an issue. Any feedback is welcome.

At your age, it shouldn't be a major issue outside of H/S/W.

What is more a concern is whether you can stand out in a sea of other engineers. You mentioned you have strong extracurriculars - but they are all in college (which in your case will work against you because you're already 7+ years removed from your college days, and some of those experiences could very well be 10 years old if they were in your undergrad years).

The general rule of thumb (again it's a guideline, not a hard rule) is to focus your essay material on stuff that you've done within the past 3-4 years. For some folks that could mean college (i.e. the younger applicants), but for many applicants it means focusing on work-related material and any extracurriculars they've done after college.

Alex, thank you very much! I am not very worried concerning the extracurriculars because mine are both inside and outside school.

You raised an important point about H/S/W.. Does this mean the age issue is a big concern for H/S/W? How significant is this factor for these unis?

Standing out as an engineer will be an issue at all schools - and at H/S/W, it's the added issue of age (where around 90% are 28 or younger at matriculation).
