Profile Evaluation Request [#permalink] New post 13 May 2013, 09:16
Hello,

Would you mind discussing my chance for M7, and what do I need to do now to improve my profile now for a better chance in 2 years?

Stats-

Asian Male, raised in Asia, came to US around high school. Plan to apply for bschool in 2 years.

Education:

Top UC
3.45 Cumulative GPA, 3.8 Major GPA
Electrical Engineering (picked up slack in 3rd and 4th year)
SAT:1400
GMAT: Haven't taken it yet, but probably 720+

Work Experience:

Well-known Boutique IB doing M&A for one year
1b+ HF for 2 years
Going to Bulge Bracket (China) for 2 years doing principal investments

Total of 5 years

Extracurricular:

Director of a startup advising people on careers overseas
Director of a another career program bridging gap between college students and companies overseas
Some volunteer work overseas

Recommendations:

Partner at HF was an alumni at HBS, and we send people consistently to schools such as Wharton, Harvard, Stanford, Chicago, etc. Very supportive of my going to bschool

Thanks!

So for things look mighty excellent. Everything seems to be going in the right direction for you. I see basically four or five things you can do in the next two years that will boost your profile.

1. Actually get that 720+ on your GMAT :)
2. Get promoted
3. Get your firm to sponsor your MBA
4. Get at least one major leadership responsibility/achievement - like running a fundraiser with 600 people and collecting 10 million dollars, or finally launching that startup you always dreamed about, etc.
5. Get politically involved (become elected to something, participate in a campaign, whatever)

These are the main areas for improvement that I can see for you over the next years.

Hope this gets that brain-juice flowing!
