Question about Essays [#permalink] New post 02 Jan 2005, 18:07
Hi, Linda. In my "Why this school?" essays, I intend to make references to specific courses, faculty, research centers, etc. Would it be okay for me to abbreviate names and titles? For example: "Zell and Lurie Institute" instead of "Samuel Zell and Robert H. Lurie Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies"? I want to show b-schools that I've done a lot of research into their programs. On the one hand, I found that spelling everything out significantly increases the length of my essays. On the other hand, I don't want them to think that I'm making typographical errors.

Your thoughts?

I would check the promotional materials to see if there is an abbreviated name that the school normally uses.
