Hi Accepted,
I have a question regarding timing of applications. I am looking at applying to a few likely schools and a couple of dream schools next year. I wanted to apply to my likely schools in round 1 and my dream schools in round 2, so I could have real feedback on my essays, recommendation letters and interviews before applying to my dream schools. The problem is, the round 1 tuition deposits for all the schools, but one are before the decision dates of my dream schools in round 2. How have you seen applicants handle this situation and what is your expert recommendation? The schools I am looking to apply to are:
Dartmouth - round 1, tuition deposit deadline after HBS/Stanford decision date
UVA - round 1, tuition deposit deadline before HBS/Stanford decision date
Northwestern - round 1, tuition deposit deadline before HBS/Stanford decision date
MIT - round 1, tuition deposit deadline before HBS/Stanford decision date
Harvard - round 2
Stanford - round 2
If I'm worried about the tuition deposits and losing a spot at one of the round 1 schools, is my only bet to apply to Dartmouth only in round 1 and the rest in round 2? Thank you and I appreciate any advice.

DC,
You could apply to your dream schools R1 and the other schools round 2 to avoid the situation you describe. Alternatively, if you believe your best applications will be the latter ones, you may just need to risk losing a R1 deposit if accepted to your dream schools R2. In the context of the MBA costs, it's probably worth it.
Best,
Linda
