Hi Alex

Some advice would be greatly valued

male/30/gmat 710/south east asian/ extra curricular - volunteer with a non-profit/work - commercial banking/dealing & trading

Kellogg: Waitlisted, then dinged after 5 months
INSEAD: Interviewed, then dinged

Post MBA: corporate strategy, general management, entrepeneurship

1) Would it be worth reapplying to either Kellogg or INSEAD? Or are the odds just against me?
2) I'm considering applying to MIT/Tsinghua/IMD - what are your general thoughts about those schools for my goals?
3) I'm concerned about my age, would that be a significant factor

Any feedback is more than welcome.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about the dings.

Hard to say what happened based on what you wrote. On the surface there isn't anything that is of major concern, but also there isn't anything that particularly stands out either. Likely you were just a very middle-of-the-road candidate who got lost in the shuffle.

As for the schools you mentioned and your chances, I don't know. Your goals are about as specific as saying "I want a career in business other than banking and consulting". IMD, Tsinghua and MIT are on three separate continents, not to mention INSEAD and Kellogg are pretty different as well. My guess is that your priorities and focus is all over the place (I hesitate to say you are desperate, but that is how you may have come across - a person with no real sense of what he wants who is willing to get in anywhere).

It might be worthwhile to get a ding analysis in your case.
