I see what you're saying. However, my rationale is influenced by the fact that there appear to be significant differences in reputation and salary between top 10 schools and lower schools. If I have a chance, even if I have to wait a year, to get into a top 10 school, is it worth it? It's not that I don't want to go to the lower-tiered schools; I wouldn't bother applying if that were the case. It is that I want to maximize my potential as an MBA-holding graduate.

This is all purely hypothetical. I'm intent on applying this fall and seeing where the chips fall. I'm just curious what happens to be the typical policy on the matter.
