Recommendation letters lost!! [#permalink] New post 15 Oct 2006, 19:33
Since I was not in the US, I asked a Professor to send my recommendation letters to my brother in Chicago. My brother was supposed to bring them back to me in Oct. when he paid a visit to me. Actually, my brother arrived here yesterday. His luggage, however, was mishandled by the airline and lost. Unfortunately, my recommendation letters were in his luggage!

Is there any possibility to ask the professor to write the letters to me again? I am very very upset. Would you please give me some advice? Appreciate.

Hey man.. sad to hear that.

There is a chance that the luggage may be found. In the meantime, drop your recommender an email and let him know that you might need him to do another recommendation. If the situation doesn't improve in say a week's time, ask him to do the recommendation again. You should still have enough time to get them back. Try to use the online submission, if available.

I hope the recommender is a nice and understanding person.
