Hi Scott:

here is my profile

Undergrad: Indian Institute Of Technology (Numero uno university in India)
Undergrad degree: Civil Engineering
CGPA: 7.15 out of 10 (I don't know which method to follow to convert it to the base 4 system and my institute clearly specifies that there is no raking within the class)
GMAT Score: 690 (49Q, 35V) - 600 in my first attempt, 570 in the second!!
Essays: 4 (got 5 in my previous two attempts)
Work Experience: 5years and 10 months (and by the time I join the univ, it will be 6 years and 6 months)
Industry: IT - software application development. I was primarily involved in the project management stream
Certifications: Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA), Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), LOMA (life insurance certification)

International work ex: 3 years in US and 3 years in India

Primary Interests: Strategy, Finance or General MBA

Short Term (immediately after MBA) Goals: get into a Business Development Manager Role for IT Consultancy services

Long Term (5years after MBA) Goal: Establish an Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) Company

Target schools: LBS, INSEAD, ISB, Kellog, Boston university, Babson

Community Service: Please view the spreadsheet attachment

Could you please help me
(i) in evaluating whether I should apply to any other good schools? I am mainly focussing on a one year MBA and want to work in India after my MBA.
(ii) Do I stand a chance at my target schools?

Thanks in advance!
Regards
Vithal, PMP

Your choices of target schools make sense given that you want to do a one-year MBA. Also consider Columbia, esp. since you mentioned finance. (http://www0.gsb.columbia.edu/mba/admissions/january). Of course, the one question that you will have to answer in your application is why you want to do an accelerated MBA.

Your list of community service and other achievements look good. Be sure to emphasize all of the times where you demonstarted leadership, rather than just participated in an event. Coming from India, you will be up against a lot of other very similar, very strong applicants. Your GMAT score and IIT credentials won't to set you apart from them (your GMAT scaore is fine, by the way). It will be these other community service and leadership experiences that will.

If you can set yourself apart, then I think you have a pretty good chance of getting into at least one of your target schools!
