My application has been turned in so while I am waiting I decided to focus on applying for graduate scholarships before school starts. Does anyone have any input on this or a place where I can find current scholarship opportunities?
Thanks for your help.
Scholarships are out there for MBA programs, but are few and far between. I have done some research for my clients that I can share with you. By the way, "fellowships" are just another term for scholarships....
Most scholarships in the MBA space generally fall into 3 categories - those for underrepresented minorities, those who will be entering the non-profit sector upon graduation and those with extremely high GPAs and GMAT scores (who are likely to go to another more highly ranked program if they don't get money).
A question - are you a member of any of the above groups?
With the underrepresented minority status - that one is pretty easy to figure out if fall into that category.
With the non-profit sector - you will expected to fill out another application and perhaps another personal statement or essay.
If you have a high-enough GMAT score and GPA, the school will send you this information shortly after your acceptance letter.
This is why it is extremely important to consider the schools that you are applying to and if they have a history of distributing financial aid. To determine this history, you would have to mine some of the admitted students forums from a prior year for that specific school.
If all else fails, call you the admissions office and see what is available. They usually have a pool of available money and as those who elect not to attend the program fall off, this money becomes available. Call up and see what they can do as it will affect your ability and decision to attend that program.
