School Selection [#permalink] New post 16 Oct 2011, 11:17
Hello,
I have short-listed to the following schools:
Wharton Georgetown Rutgers
NYU Penn State Smeal Baruch
Harvard Boston University Temple
MIT Boston College Drexel
Yale
Tepper
Columbia
Princeton (MS in Finance)
Cornell (1 Year program)

How many should I apply to and how do I choose amongst these. I have already applied to Wharton, am applying to BU, and am definitely applying to NYU.
Thanks a lot!!

You have to tell us a bit more about yourself than just listing schools. I would never recommend a person with a 2.5 GPA, 460 GMAT, no work experience after spending 7 years in college, and owes a credit card company $50,000 to apply to Harvard. It just doesn't make sense.

Without knowing your background, it's impossible to tell you which schools are good choices and which aren't as good.

I have a 750 in the GMAT (50 Q and 40 V), 3.9 GPA in computer engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology (Hoboken, NJ, graduated in 2008). International applicant, currently running my own business (for the last 2 years). Looking to major in Entrepreneurship & Finance. Several honors and scholarships in college (deans list, presidential scholarship, high honors, eta kappu nu honor society, etc). Fluent in 3 languages, and basic knowledge of another (french).
I am looking to apply to around 7-8 mba schools out of the list.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I think your numbers are beyond awesome. Based on strictly a numbers game, you should be able to get in at least one of the schools on your list. It's going to come down to how well you execute your application (i.e. essays, letters, etc). You should also figure out what it is what you want to do post-MBA, so you can better lessen your number of schools. I think you should drop Boston, Penn State, and GT.
