Starting point for Quantitative section [#permalink] New post 12 Sep 2011, 05:18
Hi Everyone,

I know this question must have been asked a lot of times but please bear with me.

I have registered for GMAT exactly 3 months from now. Its been more than 8 years since I studied Maths. I wish to devote first month of preparation starting tomorrow for Quantitative section.

After going through numerous threads I am thoroughly confused on which book to buy. I have the GMAT official review with me but I admit I found the questions tough after reviewing the concepts. I need a book intended for starters which can prepare me for official guide.

Would appreciate your quick response.

Regards,
S

Thank you. I got the MGMAT 8 strategy guides today from a colleague. She highly recommended them.

Still, many thanks for your response.

I felt that the Princeton Review's Math Workout for the GMAT was a very good starting point.
Regardless of which text you use, it is important (as you have identified) to brush up on the basics before digging into the actual GMAT prep work.

Agreed. Engineershan, you might want to check out the Basic Math Diagnostic Tool on Manhattan GMAT's website. All you need to do in order to access it is create an account. This tool will assess your math abilities and let you know whether or not you should brush up on the basics before diving into the 8 Strategy Guides.
