Hi,
I took the GMAT last week and got a 680 90% ( Q : 49, 90%, V: 35, 77% ). First off, i'd like to thank the people in the forum for keeping this forum so alive. It really helped me structure my study.
However, I am not satisfied with my score becuase i am planning to apply to the top 10 univs and my score wont make the cut at these places, so I am planning to retake it in a month. As you might have observed verbal is a weak area for me and I wanted to improve in the verbal section. The reason I felt I got less in verbal was because i spent too much time on the first 10 questions, so i was playing catch up through the rest of the section. Also I was always visibly slower in the verbal section than in the quant section in my practice too.
I have the Kaplan 2005 CD & book, Kaplan 800, PR and
OG - i have worked through all of this. I have just dowloaded the LSAT material from LSAT.org. I live in India so I dont have access to much LSAT material
I am giving myself a months time to prepare, and I was planning on doing the following :
1) Pick up some speed reading techniques ( got it through a Wharton forum through one of the links on this site ). : 2 days.
2) Go through verbal strategies from Kaplan, PR and Kaplan 800. : 2 days
3) Work through LSAT material for RC and Logical Reasoning ( which looks like it maps to CR in GMAT ) : 4 days
4) Go through Kaplan, PR, Kaplan 800 and
OG Error logs :4 days
5) Math Review and tests : 3 days
=============== Total study prep time : 15 days.
Spend rest of the time taking 4 800Score.com tests and reviewing necessary areas.
Does this plan sound ok ? Any suggestions ? Also what other material would you suggest I use to improve my verbal score. ( I have heard from some peopel here that the Kaplan Verbal workbook repeats many questions from the Kaplan CD, is this true or should i pick up the verbal work book ? ).
Thanks as always to all the members for your help.
Regards,
karthik
