Tenure track? Please explain [#permalink] New post 14 Jan 2007, 22:14
Hi all,

Just wondering what "tenure-track" really means?

Does that mean that you have job security for life, given no criminal activity?

What does "tenure" really mean and how do you get it?

Thanks.

Tenure: Its a life-time commitment by the university for employment.

Tenure-track: You are hired and given X number of years to meet the departmental requirements for tenure. The faculty is then on a track towards tenure, so to speak.

Even if you are tenured, you can be kicked out if you do any criminal activity. But, thats true anywhere.
