Hi linda and hjort,
I have cleared GMAT with 660, Quant 48 and Verbal 33, a day back.

My work experience spanned over 4 yrs, including 1.5 yrs as a software engineer and 2.5 yrs at a management position. Since 2.5 yrs, I have been working as a team member in a team that consolidates 3 different FINANCE business processes into 1. The project to consolidate 3 different business processes comes into existance due to merging of 3 different Organizations. These three finance processes were setup earlier by CIBA - Switzerland, A world leader in Speciality chemicals and ICI - England, A world Leader in Paint-ingrediants with an indian-lalbhai group. Right now, I am a team member of the composite Finance team that consists of TCS - Tata Consultancy Services persons and Atul Limited persons.

My education includes First Class - Electronics Engineering Degree and B+ grade Computer Software postgraduate degree. I possesed wonderful Social Service Record, with an international JC's Club and Blood Bank, Extra Curricular activity record, State 2nd at Swimming Competition.

I wanna target at Fiance and General Management programs such as
Cornell,
Michigan - Ann Arbor,
Rotman - Canada,
Ivy - Western ontario and
Kenan Flagler - NC.

Strong Quantitative and MIS Schools such as Carnegie Mellon and MIT also attract me lot.

(1)
Please suggest how much chances, i carry at such esteemed programs. Is my score, 660, at a lower side ? Someone says, as an indian >700 is a norm.

(2)
I heard DECLINED NO OF APPLICANTS TO TOP B-SCHOOL and DECLINED AVG/MEDIAN GMAT SCORE AT TOP-BSCHOOL will help a bit to this year international aplicants. Please post your belief for the same and oblige.

(3)
Isnt it possible to target at POST 10, 11 to ..., ranked universities with such GMAT, Accedemic and Workex ?

Your suggestion is valuable to me.

Thanks a ton in anticipation,
Sincerely
Dharmin

Certainly at MIT and Michigan that is correct. Even at the other American schools your verbal score will hurt. The quant is fine. At Rotman and Ivey, which have lower average GMAT scores, you would be a competitive applicant.

I think that is somewhat true, but there are still an enormous pool of Indians in IT applying to the top business schools. I don't think the decline is going to make a big difference, especially if you are that far below the median for your population.

Again, Indian males in IT tend to do well on the GMAT. B-schools value diversity . In a competitive process, where there is a surplus of one group and that group tends to do well on the GMAT, the schools will tend to choose members with high GMATs, because they can afford to be choosy.

I think you should prepare again for the GMAT, focusing on the verbal section and retake it if you want to have a serious chance at the demanding schools on your list.

Good luck!
