TOEFL syllabus and examination pattern is quite similar to other English proficiency tests. The examination has four main sections:
1) Reading Comprehension: This includes 3- 5 passages and around 12-14 questions on each passage. Candidates score for every right answer. There is no negative marking.
2) Listening Comprehension: This section is looking into candidate’s listening skills. In this section there are few conversations played and candidates have to answer the question asked on these conversations. Total time duration is 60-90 minutes.
3) Speaking Test: This includes 2 independent tasks and 2 integrated tasks and 20 minutes is allotted to this section.
4) Writing: This is again essay writing and includes one integrated task and one independent task. The total time allotted for this task is 50 minutes.
