Weird. DLJ was bought by Credit Suisse, so I don't really get why it is under UBS. Funny though.

the DLJ LA office got split into CS and UBS, with a lot of their rainmakers going to the UBS side of the office. that's why in LA, it's been pretty much UBS #1, CS #2

This is correct. And now the same culture is pervasive at Moelis & Co. from what I've heard.

You can get a better understanding of the culture that existed at DLJ by reading Monkey Business. It was written by two ex-analysts (or associates, can't remember now). At times, they try too hard to make it funny, but definitely does a good job explaining the culture there.
