Tom is coming to to the party, as well as John.

tom as well as john is/are going to party!!

Tom as well as John is going to party.

'as well as' serves as an additive phrase here. All additive phrases will not join two nouns into a compound plural noun.

Always remember that only 'and' can combine two singular nouns into a compound plural noun.

Hi ywilfred,

Thanks

Additive phrases are often used to add on to a subject. Below are some instances.

E.g.

Wilfred, together with Paul, is a member of GMATClub.

Jack, along with Jill is going up the hill.

The blind man, accompanied by the woman, is crossing the road.

All students, including their teacher, are required to submit an essay.

Joseph, as well as Jack, is going for a swim.

Julius, in addition to Brutus is heading to Germania to crush the barbarians.
