(C) 2008 GMAT Club - v01#22
1. many girls who are very thin could not be medically diagnosed as anorexic. 2. a large number of people with anorexia do not join online communities. 3. the survey was conducted according to a keyword search that included only the titles of registered communities, not their actual discussions. 4. doctors are unable to agree about the symptoms that constitute anorexia. 5. community members need not be diagnosed with anorexia in order to join.

The correct answer is E.
a. many girls who are very thin could not be medically diagnosed as anorexic.
We are strictly going by the numbers, not the medical definition of anorexia.
b. a large number of people with anorexia do not join online communities.
This would underestimate the numbers, not overestimate it.
c. the survey was conducted according to a keyword search that included only the titles of registered communities, not their actual discussions.
This could go both ways. You might underestimate or overestimate the numbers.
d. doctors are unable to agree about the symptoms that constitute anorexia.
This may underestimate as well as overestimate numbers.
e. community members need not be diagnosed with anorexia in order to join.
This is the best explanation for overestimating the number. The survey assumes that all members of the online communities are anorexic.
