U/G: West Point
Professional Experience:
1) Army Ranger, Platoon Leader, 14 mos leadership of 38 personnel in Surge Campaign, Iraq, awarded Bronze Star Medal and multiple other awards
2) Executive Officer, responsible for 40 million dollar property book and 200K annual budget, second-in-command of organization of 120 soldiers
3) Company Commander, led a 240 personnel company, responsible for 10 million dollar property book, rated top commander of 7 by my supervisor and in top 2 of 26 peers by senior supervisor(supporting docs available for ADCOM
4) Operations Officer - conduct long/short range planning, resource / logisitics synchronization for an organization of 700 Soldiers

Academic:
GPA: 3.3 Environmental Engineering + International Relations(Top 20% for USMA, harsh grading)
GMAT: 700 (90%) AWA 6 (91%)

Additional: Top Secret Clearance, Volunteer at a local elementary school to conduct activties, sports, events with a 2nd Grade Class (1+ years) and as a mentor to senior cadets at West Point the the Social Sciences Department (3 yrs), Led a NATO-sponsored training mission to Turkey (no combat, just cultural + technique sharing)

Short Term Goal: management consulting with emphasis on strategy / operations (Booz, Bain, Deloitte etc)
Long term Goal: Strategic Management in the defense or energy sector (Boeing, GE, BAE Systems)

ROUND 1: NYU Stern (due Monday), MIT Sloan submitted
ROUND 2: Darden, HBS, Yale (considering Wharton - application is done, concerned about fit)

Is this realistic or should I select a school outside the top 15?

In general, US b-schools view military service very favorably. Given your academic and professional experience as well as your GMAT and your goals, you should be competitive at your targeted schools. I'm not clear if your hesitation about fit at Wharton is for personal reasons, which would be a valid consideration, but otherwise you'd be competitive there.
