Viruses can have beneficial effects. For example, some kill more complex microorganisms, some of which are deadly to humans. But viruses have such simple structures that replacing just a few of a beneficial virus’s several million atoms can make it deadly to humans. Clearly, since alterations of greater complexity than this are commonly produce by random mutations, any virus could easily become dangerous to humans. If the statements above are true, then each of the following statements could also be true EXCEPT: (A) Random mutation makes some deadly viruses beneficial to humans. (B) Some organisms of greater complexity than viruses are no more likely than viruses to undergo significant alterations through random mutation. (C) Some microorganisms that are more complex than viruses are beneficial to humans. (D) Some viruses that fail to kill other viruses that are deadly to humans are nevertheless beneficial to humans. (E) No virus that is deadly to organisms of greater complexity than itself is beneficial to humans.

(C) Some microorganisms that are more complex than viruses are beneficial to humans.It is mentioned that some microorganisms are deadly for humas which means some are beneficial...again there is possibility
(D) Some viruses that fail to kill other viruses that are deadly to humans are nevertheless beneficial to humans..possible as they can kill other microorganisms which are harmful
(E) No virus that is deadly to organisms of greater complexity than itself is beneficial to humansshud be the answer coz this is out of scope .. So I will go with E.. what is the OA.

Conclusion is any virus could easily become dangerous to humans, because alterations of greater complexity than this are commonly produce by random mutations. So I went with A.

Argument structure - Claim, Example Premise with reasoning, Conclusion. IMO D , since Premise says that a virus becomes useful by killing other microbes which are deadly. D: Some viruses that fail to kill other viruses that are deadly to humans are nevertheless beneficial to humans. - Negates the Premise and assumes some other cause for being benefitial to humans. Hence, Not correct. Rest all are possible.

Answer shud be "(E) No virus that is deadly to organisms of greater complexity than itself is beneficial to humans. "
Because it is already mentioned that some virus that are deadly to orgsnisms of greater complexity than them are benificial.So, the statement that No virus that is deadly to organisms of greater complexity than itself is beneficial to humans could never be possible.

The answer is E - No virus that is deadly to organisms of greater complexity than itself is beneficial to humans. It contradicts the first two lines of stimulus. "Viruses can have beneficial effects. For example, some kill more complex microorganisms, some of which are deadly to humans."
