Weaknesses Essay [#permalink] New post 25 Feb 2013, 00:02
Hi all,

For my MBA application, I'm asked to write a short essay about my weaknesses. I need advice about this.

Is it a good idea to use "sometimes, I worry to much" or "I'm a worrier" for my personal weakness? Or will it scare the admission staff away?

Thanks so much!

stewartlife,
Admitting that you're a worrier is pretty mild stuff as far as weaknesses go. But you could hurt yourself if the examples you give of how worrying affects you are too damaging. So the examples you give will be key. Also important will be what you say about what steps you have taken to correct this weakness. You might also consider discussing weaknesses that an MBA can help you correct.

Hah! I don't know if that will scare them away... but that weakness, is well... WEAK!

They wanna see you expose yourself a wee bit more than that. Normally for a weakness story what you want to do is to fail and to FAIL BIG. I mean think about it: What's more impressive: failing to climb the mountain in your backyard or failing to climb Everest?
You got it dude... The harder you fall the better!

Thanks so much pbodine and JonAdmissionado for your inputs. I'll try to accommodate the suggestions into writing a strong "weakness" essay.
