What should I do before starting my Masters Program? [#permalink] New post 28 May 2013, 14:04
I haven't been in school for two years and Accounting is a subject I have limited experience in. On top of all that, I have to take a two month long summer session before I even start actual grad school, just so that I can fulfill my lower level requirements. This summer session has me more worried than anything because its 6 classes each about 10 days long, about 6 to 8 hours a day I've never taken classes like this before and I'm just worried I wont be good enough, I was a good student in undergrad (3.5 GPA). What can I do to prepare and maybe relieve some of this stress?

Take a vacation. Seriously! The point of the summer prep courses is to familiarize you with accounting. If it was a program which ate its students alive they wouldn't do it.

You will spend the next year in school and then the rest of your career in accounting. Enjoy what little time you have left.

I agree, it would be counter-productive for these summer sessions to be ridiculously stressful and difficult. I attended summer school in my undergrad where I took two courses with ten weeks of material condensed to five weeks. I was in class for 6-8 hours a day and this did not make the work any more difficult, I simply had to stay awake in class. The other students and I still had lots of time to go out and enjoy the summer! In any case, I'm not saying they're the same thing but the greater time commitment doesn't necessarily mean greater difficulty.
