I have the similar question. Currently I'm writing an essay to Chicago GSB which has 100 words limit and I end up with 102 words. How bad is this?
to citalfo: IMHO 650 instead of 600 is quite a lot. I suggest you consider making some adjustments.

Which chicago question has a 100 word limit? I didnt see any that did... You really cant find a way to remove those 2 words? I mean, put it differently - I dont imagine 2 words would make a difference, but why break the rules? At worst it looks like you either didn't check your word counts (lazy), or think the rules dont apply to you (also bad). At best, the adcom doesn't notice or doesn't care. Why risk that? Just rephrase something and get it under 100.

The essay questions are as follows:
Essay 3: Complete each of the following questions. (100 word maximum for each question below)
· What is the one thing that most people do not know about you?
· What book, play, or movie would you recommend to the admissions committee? Why?
· It is your first day of business school and people are selecting study groups. How would you describe the value you will bring to a study group?
However, I've just did as you suggested and edited the essay to 100 words sharp
