Write essays and Study GMAT in parallel - Effective? [#permalink] New post 11 Nov 2005, 23:42
Hi,

I just took my first GMAT test end of last month and got an unsatisfactory score of 690 (Q49, V34) so I decide to take it again either on Nov 21 or Dec 6 since those are 2 available nearest dates. I target to apply to 4 schools in the top five. However, I wonder, from your experience, do you think how effective it is to do school applications and study for GMAT at the same time? I would appreciate some advice.

Thanks!

The short answer is NO, don't study for the GMAT and work on your essays at the same time! We've met far too many applicants who are reapplying, and offer "Well, I was cramming for the GMAT while writing my essays" as the reason why they got rejected last year.

Honestly, a 690 is good enough to get you in anywhere. Why even take it again? If you're worried about your verbal score, some well-written essays can overcome that.
