142. A certain colony of bacteria doubles every morning while every evening 1000 bacteria die. If the colony completely disappeared by the end of the third day, what was the original size of the colony? (A) 825 (B) 850 (C) 875 (D) 910 (E) 950
my answer is 1750 , i did it twice

thanx for your reply well i read that what is done in x= 1750 is further divided by 2 to show the double thing if thats the case then subtract further 1000 to show previous day. correct timeline is not given as in GMAT questns where it is mentioned monday , tuesday etc and 5 pm or 9 am etc etc

2(2(2x-1000)-1000)-1000 = 0
so x = 875
