Hi everyone , I’d really appreciate it if anybody could advise me on this : in July this year I resigned from my job to establish my own business and to devote more time for volunteering in my target industry as my post mba target industry is healthcare consultancy. Im confused about what to write on lbs job essays which mention that we have to write our roles and responsibilities. In essay 1 shall i write about my previous job role from which I resigned and give a brief description of what I’m doing now or do i write only about my previous job description or should I leave it all blank and describe everything in job essay 2 that states " If you are currently not working...." I’d be really grateful for any kind of advise regarding this.

Are the recommendation questions for LBS unchanged this year compared to last year?
They have added a new essay "What makes you unique (200 words max)"

I suggest you reach out to adcom and request a quick call to understand. I’ve found them quite responsive

I think European schools are more forgiving, they look at your application holistically

So if you could get better GMAT score, you might be able to balance it out (I am also an applicant but sharing what I’ve heard from the adcoms during MBA events)

Hi ParvinderGoyat,

US schools, especially M7, take GPA very seriously and yours might put you at a disadvantage.

INSEAD and LBS are more tolerant when it comes to GPA. They care more about the quality of the education you received than your actual grades. Plus, most students in their classes come from education systems where GPA is not used, so it would be very hard to compare grades across the board.

That being said, as an Indian applicant having attended Indian institutions, it would be fairly easy for schools to compare your grades with those of other Indian applicants coming from similar institutions. So, I'd recommend scoring as high as you can at the GMAT (695+).

I hope this helps.

Warm regards

ParvinderGoyat - Your PGDM GPA and a strong GMAT (ideally 695+GFE) can help compensate for the lower undergrad GPA.

While M7’s (and LBS to an extent) tend to overweight the GPA amongst Indian applicants (this isn’t official stats, but just based on what I’ve seen), schools like INSEAD, HEC, IESE tend to be a bit more forgiving if the rest of the profile is strong.

It’d be crucial to have a strong narrative covering why (another) MBA, your post-MBA goals, how your target school(s) fit in, Extracurriculars, etc.

I’d also suggest adding some reach/ safe schools to the mix, but I’d like to understand your profile and ambitions at a deeper level to advise on that.

Hope this helps.

Arvind

Hi arcgmat03,

job essay #1 ("Tell us about your responsibilities...") has a rather long word limit (400 words), so there is room for you to explain both what you're currently doing and your previous full-time position. This is, of course, assuming you just started your business and don't have much to say yet in terms of results and such.

In job essay #2 ("If you are currently not working..."), then explain what plans you have for your business (e.g. how you plan to market it, how you plan to acquire new clients, ...) and your intention to volunteer in your post-MBA target industry. Give here as much detail as you can (e.g. names of companies you've approached, the status of the conversations/interviews you've had with them, ...) to show you're serious and determined.

Then, I would use the Optional Essay to explain in more detail the circumstances and your rationale to leave your full-time job. This is important since leaving your job just before applying to business school always raises questions.

I hope this helps.

Warm regards

Hi Everyone

Can someone suggest, if they have requested adcom for a English Test Waiver ?

It seems for Non-English Country applicants, that this year they have made mandatory to submit English Test Scores.

Hi everyone,
I’m Parvinder Goyat, a Senior Product Manager with nearly four years of experience at Sabre, leading innovative solutions in the hospitality industry. I hold an MBA with dual specialization in Finance and HR and am now looking to pivot into finance, particularly through an MBA at LBS. I’d love to connect with current students, alumni, or adcoms to learn more about LBS’s unique finance offerings and the community. Looking forward to engaging and hearing your experiences!

Hey!

Could anyone give me a quick insight on whether an English proficiency test is required for LBS if the medium of instruction in undergrad is English in India?
