While LBS emphasizes a holistic review, a lower score, particularly for candidates from highly competitive applicant pools, can become a limiting factor. If the rest of a candidate’s profile is strong, including work experience, leadership, and clarity of goals, LBS may encourage a retake to improve competitiveness.

This kind of feedback from LBS can come at different stages of the application process. In some cases, candidates who interact with admissions through webinars or informal chats before submitting their application may receive early suggestions to improve their test scores. More commonly, applicants are advised to retake the GMAT or GRE either during the application review process, before interview decisions are finalized, or after being placed on the waitlist. Among these, the waitlist stage is where such suggestions occur most frequently, especially when the test score is a clear outlier in an otherwise compelling profile.

If you’re currently applying or have already submitted and are unsure whether your score is competitive enough, it may be wise to consider a retake proactively. LBS tends to be transparent in their communication, so if they see potential but believe a higher score could make a difference, they’ll typically make that clear. Good luck!
Hi, thanks for the info. I am on the waitlist too. How do I know if I must retake the GMAT? Because it is mentioned that we cannot receive individualized feedback, so not sure if they will tell me this
I was waitlisted R2 and also concerned about my test score, but was invited by LBS to a zoom call with a member of the admissions team to review my profile, and they were able to clarify whether my score was in their ideal range. I believe a few others on the waitlist R2 also got an invite for a call as well. Hopefully, they are able to do the same for R3.

Hello SundayRoast,

One way is to keep engaging with the Ad Com with an profile related updates since the time of your application. This helps showcase your intent in the program.

All the best!

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get access details for Meet LBS platform after being admitted? I received the offer about 3 weeks ago (R3 but got the admit couple of weeks before the decision date) but still haven't received anything regarding that. Just checking if it usually takes some weeks?
