Guys, I had a horrible interview experience. My interviewer was an Indian+very senior alumni (grad of 2007). I knew the moment I got his profile that this could be the most difficult interview I will ever have. He rescheduled the interview 3 times and finalised the time only 3 hours before the interview. I’m not sure what adcom will make of this. Anyways, interview started, and this guy seemed pissed off about everything. He kept challenging almost every sentence I said. He started by saying why I don’t want to be in sustainability (dude I spent 7 years in sustainability only to be told this). Next he said why coming back to India to start my own firm is a bad bad idea. Next he kept complaining about how Adanis are looting the country and how Modi is favoring only the big business leaving others to starve (this guy was running his own firm). He had a horrible connection and we shifted platform from teams to gmeet to WhatsApp eventually. He ended by suggesting me to explore technical courses instead and didn’t even allow me to counter. Sorry for the long rant. I had so much expectations from this interview, Fuqua is my top choice school and it is pretty much all I have in R2. Should I reach out to adcom trying to explain my situation? Please suggest something. Read Less

Interview experience sharing: I interviewed with a second-year student and she was very friendly. The interview lasted about 50 minutes. The interview style didn’t include follow-up questions, so it’s better to include all your key points directly in your answers rather than trying to hold something back for later. 1. Can you tell me about yourself and share more about who you are? 2. What motivates you both personally and professionally? 3. What would you say is your greatest personal achievement? 4. Why are you applying for an MBA, and why at this particular moment? 5. Can you go deeper into your short-term and long-term career goals? 6. What is your Plan B if your primary career goals don’t work out? 7. What has been the best piece of constructive feedback you have received from a manager? 8. How would your manager describe you, and why are you an asset to the team? 9. Can you tell me about a time you had a conflict with a team member and how you resolved it? 10. Can you tell me about a time you made a mistake in a leadership position? 11. How do you think an ideal team should work? 12. What about Fuqua is different from the other MBA programs you’re considering? 13. What particular communities excite you the most and why? 14. What does Team Fuqua mean to you? 15. Do you have any questions for me? Hope that helps! Read Less

My interview I understood that the interviews were going to be more conversational, but mine was actually quite direct with structured questions. They started with “Walk me through your resume,” then asked about a time I led a team, a complication I faced and how I handled it, my perspective on working in diverse teams, and what I would contribute to Fuqua. I hope this helps! I know there are people from Fuqua who are open to helping with interview preparation, so I definitely recommend reaching out. Read Less

FAQ

What GMAT score do I need for Fuqua?

The average GMAT score for Fuqua is around 720 (Classic) / 665 (Focus Equivalent) for the latest incoming class. As score is just one component of the application it does not mean that you can get in with 740 and someone will get dinged with 700.
Here is what you can use as a guide:
1) Are you from an over-represented demography? If yes, add 30 points to the average to arrive at a competitive score for your peer group.
2) Are you from a unique background or disadvantaged group such as a refugee or first-time college grad? You can subtract 30 points from the average and still get in.

What is the average GRE score for Fuqua?

Fuqua average GRE score for the latest incoming class is 318. The dynamics for most schools with GRE admissions is that a great profile with a lower-caliber GRE score seems to be acceptable but a below average profile will usually not be able to get in with above-average GRE score. As the result, the average GRE score may look very tenable but it may not result into an Admit. This is just an average score and schools admit a spectrum of applicants.

Does Fuqua accept without GRE or GMAT?

Fuqua requires that you submit a GMAT, GRE, or Executive Assessment for MBA Admissions. Both GMAT Focus and GMAT Classic are accepted.
