Met in-person. Arrived a few minutes early, greeted the staff sitting at the reception desk, and waited for my time. Interview started on time with a member of the Adcom. Questions included: Tell me about yourself & your work history Teamwork with a challenging teammate Favorite project Why Marshall Goals My questions. I kept my questions brief and somewhat standard, such as favorite thing about Marshall and what sets Marshall apart from other programs from his perspective. Overall the tone was very positive and I left with more details about the program than I had from the site or other events. Read Less

My interviewer was Benjamin Greenfeld. I joined the meeting five minutes prior to start time and saw him waiting for me already. I nearly had a heart attack! So, I apologized for keeping him waiting and he reminded me that I wasn't late (and that instead, he was early). Haha! - We spent the opening five minutes talking about casual stuff and life in general - Walk me through your resume starting from post graduation - Why MBA? Why Marshall? - What your short and long term goals? - If the economic conditions change, what are your alternative short and long term goals? - Do you have geographic preferences for where you would like to work post MBA? - Do you have any specific employers in mind? - How will you contribute to Marshall? - Based on experience, what are your top 3 traits in a leader? - General questions He appreciated my decision to schedule my interview early and added that I might likely receive an early decision as well (late November / early December). I was invited for an interview after my application was reviewed and scheduled a Zoom call with an Adcom member. I checked all the technical details on my end and was ready 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time. Unfortunately, the first 15 minutes were an absolute disaster. We encountered multiple technical difficulties; his voice wasn't coming through. He asked me to connect an external headphone, change my microphone, and even switch laptops. When none of those solutions worked, he realized the issue was likely on his end and used his mobile phone to connect to the meeting. This whole process took nearly 15 minutes of our scheduled time, causing me a lot of agitation and losing my composure, which affected the interview. Despite the shaky start, I tried my best and responded to several standard questions: 1. Tell me about yourself 2. What is your current job title? Talk about your most significant professional achievement. 3. What according to you are three defining characteristics of a leader? 4. Talk about a time when you had to solve a team conflict. 5. What are your short-term and long-term goals? 6. Which companies are you considering working for after your MBA? 7. What is it about LA that excites you? 8. Why MBA and why Marshall? He then extended the meeting beyond the scheduled time to answer some questions I had. In summary, I genuinely believe I would have performed better without the technical issues. I would have much rather preferred the Adcom member to conduct some basic checks on his end before this high-stakes interview. Read Less

FAQ

What GMAT score do I need for Marshall (USC)?

The average GMAT score for Marshall (USC) is around 720 (Classic) / 665 (Focus Equivalent) for the latest incoming class. As score is just one component of the application it does not mean that you can get in with 740 and someone will get dinged with 700.
Here is what you can use as a guide:
1) Are you from an over-represented demography? If yes, add 30 points to the average to arrive at a competitive score for your peer group.
2) Are you from a unique background or disadvantaged group such as a refugee or first-time college grad? You can subtract 30 points from the average and still get in.

What is the average GRE score for Marshall (USC)?

Marshall (USC) average GRE score for the latest incoming class is 323. The dynamics for most schools with GRE admissions is that a great profile with a lower-caliber GRE score seems to be acceptable but a below average profile will usually not be able to get in with above-average GRE score. As the result, the average GRE score may look very tenable but it may not result into an Admit. This is just an average score and schools admit a spectrum of applicants.

Does Marshall (USC) accept without GRE or GMAT?

Marshall USC offers test waivers for GMAT and GRE on a selective basis. You will have to apply for a test waiver in advance and will usually be notified within 2 weeks about qualifying. USC Marshall MBA Test Waiver Policy This program allows applicants to request a waiver for standardized tests (GMAT or GRE). To request a waiver, submit your application and explain your rationale using the Test Waiver Request Text Box. Test waiver requests will be evaluated based on academic performance, with a strong emphasis on achievement in quantitative coursework (business, economics, sciences, technology, engineering, math, etc.). Professional experience can be included in the waiver request but is secondary to academic achievement and quantitative coursework performance. Additional Guidelines:

-Transcripts must be uploaded into the application to be considered for a waiver. -Waivers are granted case-by-case and are final. -Approval of a waiver request does not guarantee admission. -Test waiver decisions will be emailed to applicants within 15 business days from the time application is submitted. -Test scores will not be considered in the admissions decision if a waiver is approved.

What GPA do you need to get into Marshall (USC)?

Marshall (USC) average GPA is 3.5 note that the GPA is only calculated for the domestic US applicants and international GPA equivalents are not converted or included in this average. As the result, there is more leeway for international applicants as their GPA does not impact school's average but keep in mind that GPA's vary based on the prestige of the institution and rigor of the program attended. If your GPA is below 3.4 but is competitive for your program or background, you should address and explain this fact in the optional comments/essay available in the application specifically specifically for this purpose.

When is Marshall (USC) MBA program application deadline?

Marshall has 3 application deadlines:
Round 1 is October 01, 2024 (the best round to apply)
Round 2 is January 10, 2025 (The most competitive one)
Round 3 is April 15, 2025 (worst round to apply) Round 1 is best for admissions and scholarships. Round 2 tends to be the most competitive. Round 3 is not for friendly for most applicants and has the least chances of financial aid.

How long is the FT MBA program at Marshall (USC)?

Marshall (USC) Full Time MBA program is 20 months long. You will start the program in August/September (the first 1-2 weeks will be orientation) and graduate in April/May. The full-time MBA program has a break for a summer internship.

Does Marshall (USC) have a Part Time MBA program?

In addition to Full Time MBA, Marshall (USC) has a highly-ranked Part Time MBA program in several formats such as holding classes in evenings and weekends.
