I am a female dentist from India. I completed my residency in Prosthodontics in 2019 (3 years) and since then, have worked in both teaching hospitals and stand-alone clinics for 2.5 years. Now, I want to pivot into Healthcare consulting since I feel as a doctor myself who has dealt with the complicated combination of business goals and patient care needs, I can bring a unique perspective as a leader in healthcare administration.

So, my short term goals - Senior consultant in Healthcare sector in a consulting firm like the Big 3, Deloitte or healthcare-focused consulting firms like Clearview Healthcare, Health Advances etc.
Mid Term Goals - Manager at a similar consulting firm
Long term Goals - C-suite executive in a healthcare organization OR my own company for an AI-driven practice management software (with customization for unique circumstance of the healthcare set-up)

Your profile presents a compelling case for admission into MBA programs focused on healthcare consulting. Emphasizing your unique perspective as a healthcare professional, coupled with a clear vision for your career trajectory, will strengthen your applications. A GPA of 3.19 may be on the lower side for top-tier programs. It would be beneficial to address any factors contributing to this in your optional essays, emphasizing your strengths and growth since then. You will also need to have a strong reason for WHY MBA. It’s good to see that you have clarity on your goals; most people lack here. You come from an underrepresented background and have a high chance of getting admitted if you craft a compelling application. We recently helped a physician get admitted to Kellogg Business School with a 328 GRE. Overall, you have a unique profile and have a chance to get into Top Business School.

We can connect to discuss your profile in detail if you'd like.Feel free to schedule a call with us here for an in-depth profile evaluation and additional benefits.

Thank you for the honest response. My GPA objectively seems low but I consistently got top 10 university and college ranks all through my undergrad program, just the marking system in my university was just very stingy. You think it would be wise to explain the context in the optional essays or mentioning the academic achievements and ranks in my resume would be enough?

It's wise to explain the context of your GPA in your optional essays while highlighting your academic achievements in your resume. This balanced approach will help adcoms understand your unique situation and appreciate your accomplishments. Good luck

Hi Swagatalaxmi
I am Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, you have a strong GMAT score, not only it will cover up for your GPA, but in general applicants from the healthcare programs tend to have a bit low GPAs due to the competitive nature of the course, thus your GPA should not be much of a concern.
Now, you’re looking to pivot into healthcare consulting because you believe your background as a doctor can offer valuable insights in this field, this makes sense. You have strong answers to why an MBA and even have classified your goals into short, medium and long term, it looks impressive and will definitely catch the eye of the adcoms. One important thing you should focus on is aligning your goals with the specific values of the schools you are targeting. Highlight specific skill set you wish to gain from an MBA that will help you through your career progression.
Are there any extracurriculars that would help your profile add more diversity to the program? any dental camps conducted on the countryside, or maybe some statistics where you have helped people who could not afford treatment? Speak about those too.
Classify schools based on your list into, reach, target and safe, this would help you plan and apply better.

Hey Swagatalaxmi,

Vashi here from LilacBuds.

Your GPA is a little on the lower end for these schools but you have a good GMAT score. Ensure that you are able to provide the reason for your low GPA (strict marking or something like being in the top 5% of your class or so.)
Post MBA goals are pretty clear and your education and work exp. trajectory supports it nicely.
You also need to make sure that your application essays reflect your strong professional experience. Do make sure that your post-MBA goals are clearly depicted in your application essays and how each specific school will be critical in helping you achieve the same. Also, consider reaching out to alums/ current students of these schools to know more about these programs.

We at LilacBuds would love to assist you by connecting you to alums/ mentors of top B-schools and would therefore request more details about your profile. You can connect with our team for a detailed profile analysis at https://lilacbuds.com/services/mba-cour ... mpaign=GCV or leave a message on +91-84483 35484 for a direct reachout.
You can also share your CV on [email protected] .

Hoping to hear from you.
