Just finished my Ross R2 interview. Sharing questions and format in case it helps someone prepping. Format: Alumni interview (based in USA), virtual, ~25 minutes of Q&A + 5-10 minutes of me asking questions. Very conversational — started with some small talk about weather and background before getting into the structured questions. Interviewer was friendly and engaged throughout. Questions asked: -Why MBA? Why now? -Tell me about yourself / walk me through your background -Why Ross? -Did you speak with any current Ross students or attend any events? -Tell me about a situation where your manager gave you constructive feedback -Tell me about a time you worked in a diverse team -Do you have any questions for me? After some question, there was at least 1 follow up question if not more We spoke for 5 mins about "Why MBA", why can't you laterally move to achieve your ST goals etc Good luck everyone Read Less

MBA Interview The interview was very conversational in tone. The interviewer first introduced himself and shared a bit about his background, which made the interaction feel comfortable and natural. He then asked me to introduce myself. We had some light small talk before moving into the structured questions, which made it easier to relate to him and respond thoughtfully. Questions Asked by the Interviewer Tell me about yourself. What are your short-term and long-term career goals, and how do you see an MBA helping you achieve them? Why pursue an MBA in the United States instead of Europe, India, or Singapore? You’ve already mentioned several reasons in your application — are there any additional ways the ROSS program specifically will help you? Describe a challenging time and how you overcame it. Tell me about a very big failure — a complete failure — and what you learned from it. (The interviewer mentioned that this could be either a professional or personal example.) Questions I Asked the Interviewer When you entered the program, did you already have clarity about what you wanted to do? What was your experience building a startup as an international student or international working professional? Read Less

My interview was very interesting, conversational and zero traditional. It lasted 50 minutes and it was with an alumni graduated more than a decade ago. He asked me why now and why Ross and other all questions were based on my CV. Many times we were discussing a point and a new sprang up and then we switched the point. For many times we talked about personal interests (for example, one specifical American magazine). He and I are from tech so I think it helped a lot to create a connection (for example, he asked me why I like to code). My english is B2 so I was feeling anxious. Once I didn't understand the question and he helped me to ensure I did get the point. Other time I didn't have the word to describe a product but I explained in other way and I could see in his face he liked seeming solving a problem in real time. He said I must keep improving my English and gave me tips of sources of practice, but said it's enough to have a mba and would be a larger problem if I would look for job in USA (I am a sponsored candidate). I think it's a very specific experience that will not happen to majority here, but what I would like to say is; if you prepare yourself by the most common question, you probably will know your career, your needs and wishers, and yourself in that point you will feel comfortable to talk about everything. The interview was very short, the duration was 32 mins, which includes 11 mins of me asking qs at the end. She was a bit unwell due to cold. She gave her introduction. Then she asked me the following questions (this went for just 21 mins): Walk me through your resume and highlight your experience What really drives your interest in pursuing an MBA at this stage in my career and why it could be a meaningful choice for me? How do you envision yourself being involved in the Ross community? TMAT when you had to adjust your approach to the situation in order to accomplish a task or a goal. Can you walk me through a project where you had to balance multiple competing priorities and made a mistake. How did you take accountability and adjust your approach as needed? TMAT when you faced a significant setback or obstacle. How did you handle it and what did you learn from your experience? How do you approach building relationships and networks with individuals with different cultural backgrounds? QnA she was chilled and conversational. Gave crisp answers for my 5 questions at the end. FAQ

What GMAT score do I need for Ross (Michigan)?

The average GMAT score for Ross is around 720 (Classic) / 665 (Focus Equivalent) for the latest incoming class. As score is just one component of the application it does not mean that you can get in with 730 and someone will get dinged with 710. Here is what you can use as a guide:

1) Are you from an over-represented demography? If yes, add 30 points to the average to arrive at a competitive score for your peer group.

2) Are you from a unique background or disadvantaged group such as a refugee or first-time college grad? You can subtract 30 points from the average and still get in.

What is the average GRE score for Ross?

Ross average GRE score for the latest incoming class is 322 (Q 162, V160). The dynamics for most schools with GRE admissions is that a great profile with a lower-caliber GRE score seems to be acceptable but a below average profile will usually not be able to get in with above-average GRE score. As the result, the average GRE score may look very tenable but it may not result into an Admit. This is just an average score and schools admit a spectrum of applicants.

Does Ross (Michigan) accept without GRE or GMAT?

Ross offers test waivers for GMAT and GRE on a selective basis. You will have to apply for a test waiver in advance and will usually be notified within 2 weeks about qualifying. Candidates with the following backgrounds/accomplishments are more likely to be granted a test waiver:

- Master's degree in an analytical or quantitative discipline
- CPA, CFA, or international equivalent
- Undergraduate or graduate record, especially in analytical or quantitative courses (mostly reserved for US Undergrads with strong academics)
- Post-undergraduate, full-time work experience in an analytical or quantitative function
- Performance on the Executive Assessment (submit EA score)

FYI: you can submit multiple supporting documents, and the more of these you have, the better.

What GPA do you need to get into Ross (Michigan)?

Ross average GPA is slightly above 3.4. Note that the GPA is only calculated for the domestic US applicants and international GPA equivalents are not converted or included in this average. As the result, there is more leeway for international applicants as their GPA does not impact school's average but keep in mind that GPA's vary based on the prestige of the institution and rigor of the program attended. If your GPA is below 3.4 but is competitive, you should address and explain this fact in the optional comments/essay available in the application specifically specifically for this purpose.
