When are the 2026-27 MBA application deadlines?

For entry in 2027, Round 1 falls in the first three weeks of September 2026 and Round 2 is concentrated on 4-12 January 2027, with Round 3 running from late February to early May. Cambridge Judge opens the calendar on 24 August 2026, ahead of every US school; Duke Fuqua's Early Action and Oxford Saïd follow on 2 September. Harvard, Stanford, Kellogg, Columbia and Darden all land on 9 September 2026. Harvard and MIT Sloan run only two rounds, so there is no Round 3 safety net at either.

More on what this page covers

This page tracks 46 full-time MBA programmes at 43 schools: the GMAT Club MBA Ranking 2026 top 25 plus Columbia's J-Term, the FT-ranked top 3 in the UK and top 7 in Continental Europe, four Asia-Pacific programmes, and the four Indian programmes that accept the GMAT - the Indian School of Business PGP plus the IIM executive programmes. For each one you get every published round deadline, average GMAT (Focus) and GRE, acceptance rate, class size and how many letters of recommendation are required.

Every GMAT figure is on the current Focus 205-805 scale. Where a school still publishes on the old 200-800 scale, the value was converted using the official GMAC concordance and carries a dotted underline - hover it to see the original score and the conversion caveat. That matters: comparing a 730 Classic against a 685 Focus without conversion is the single most common way applicants misjudge their competitiveness.

Deciding where to apply rather than when? Start with the GMAT Club MBA rankings, then take specific school questions to the MBA application forum. See sources and verification dates at the bottom of this page.

MBA Application Deadlines in the United States (2026-27)

26 Programs

US Round 1 deadlines land in a tight three-week window in September 2026, and Round 2 is even tighter - almost every top-25 programme falls between 4 and 12 January 2027. Read more ▾
The roster and the ordering are both the GMAT Club MBA Ranking 2026 top 25, with the US News 2026 position shown underneath each rank for reference. Where a school runs an early round ahead of its Round 1 - Duke and Darden both do - both dates are stacked in the R1 column, so the R2 column always means Round 2. Two other structural things to watch: Darden and Duke Fuqua run an Early Action round ahead of Round 1, and Darden splits its Round 3 into three separate March, April and May deadlines - six in total. Harvard and MIT Sloan, by contrast, run only two rounds, so a missed Round 2 means waiting a full year. Round 3 at US schools is realistically for domestic applicants: scholarship money is largely committed and the visa runway is short.

The UK top three run the earliest calendar on this page - Cambridge Judge opens on 24 August 2026, ahead of every US school. Read more ▾
Ranks are Financial Times Global MBA 2026. Oxford and Cambridge both run one-year programmes with four or five stages, and both fill progressively, so a Round 3 or Round 4 application competes for a much smaller pool. London Business School had not published its 2027-entry dates when this page was compiled; the dates shown roll its previous cycle forward and its portal typically opens in August. Non-UK applicants should also budget time for the Graduate Route visa.

Continental Europe is the only region here with two live intakes a year, which is why INSEAD and HEC Paris each appear twice. Read more ▾
Ranks are Financial Times Global MBA 2026. The January intake calendars run roughly six months ahead of the September ones, so several January-2027 rounds have already closed. IE Business School and SDA Bocconi review on a rolling basis rather than in fixed rounds, and IMD runs six rounds across the year rather than four. One-year European programmes also mean a shorter payback window and a compressed recruiting calendar - worth weighing against the two-year US format.

MBA Application Deadlines in India (2026-27)

4 Programs

These are the Indian programmes that accept the GMAT and run conventional application rounds. Read more ▾
India runs two parallel admissions systems and this table covers only one of them. The two-year flagship PGP programmes at IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta admit through the Common Admission Test - no application rounds, no GMAT - so they are out of scope here and are deliberately excluded rather than shown with dates that do not mean the same thing. What you see instead are the one-year executive programmes (MBA-PGPX, EPGP, MBAEx) and the Indian School of Business PGP, all of which accept the GMAT or GRE. ISB carries its FT Global MBA 2026 position; the IIM programmes carry their institution's NIRF Management 2025 rank, since NIRF ranks the school rather than the individual programme.

MBA Application Deadlines in Asia-Pacific (2026-27)

4 Programs

Asia-Pacific runs the latest calendar on this page - HKUST does not even open its 2027 application until the end of August 2026. Read more ▾
Ranks are Financial Times Global MBA 2026. This region was compiled after the rest of the page and its calendars are the least settled: HKUST states outright that Intake 2027 information arrives at the end of August 2026, and the dates shown for NUS, NTU and CEIBS are rolled forward from their previous cycles and remain indicative until each school publishes. Class profile figures are shown as not published rather than estimated. Two practical notes that apply across the region: Hong Kong and Singapore student visas both need several weeks, and the Singapore programmes have a mid-year intake rather than an autumn one, so the calendar does not line up with the US cycle.

Note: Rank for US programs is the GMAT Club MBA Ranking 2026 (amber chip - hover for the school's score out of 100) with the US News 2026 position beneath it; the US table is ordered by GMAT Club rank. UK and European programs show the FT Global MBA 2026 position and the IIM programs their institution's NIRF Management 2025 rank, since the GMAT Club ranking covers US schools only; "=" marks a tie and "~" an approximate FT position. Ranks from different publishers are not comparable across regions. A dotted underline under a GMAT score means the school publishes on the old 200-800 scale and the figure was converted using the GMAC concordance - hover for the original. An asterisk on a date (dashed amber pill) means the school has not published that date for this cycle and the value mirrors its previous cycle - indicative only. A struck-through grey pill is a round that has already closed. A dash means the school does not publish that figure. Ten schools publish a cut-off time and it is shown on the date; the other 33 do not, so those are dates only - never assume you have until midnight. Spotted something wrong? Click the date and choose Report it - the report reaches the editorial team with the school and round already attached.

MBA Application Deadlines: Frequently Asked Questions

Rounds, scores, timing and intakes

When are the MBA application deadlines for the 2026-27 cycle?

Round 1 for entry in 2027 clusters in the first three weeks of September 2026. Cambridge Judge opens the calendar on 24 August 2026, followed by Oxford Saïd and Duke Fuqua's Early Action on 2 September, London Business School around 4 September, and Wharton and Michigan Ross on 8 September. Harvard, Stanford, Kellogg, Columbia and Darden all fall on 9 September 2026. Round 2 is even tighter - most of the US top 25 sit between 4 and 12 January 2027. Round 3 runs from late February to early May 2027. The tables above list every published date for the programs we track.

Is it better to apply in Round 1 or Round 2 for an MBA?

At most top programs Round 1 and Round 2 are treated as equivalent, and admissions offices say so publicly. The practical difference is that Round 1 gives you a second attempt at the same school in Round 2 or the following year, and it clears the visa runway for international applicants. Round 3 is materially harder almost everywhere: seats and scholarship budgets are largely committed by then, and at several schools Round 3 functions as a waitlist-feeder. Apply in the round where your application is genuinely finished rather than rushing a weak Round 1.

Which MBA programs only have two rounds?

Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan both run only two rounds for the 2026-27 cycle - Round 1 on 9 September 2026 and 29 September 2026 respectively, then Round 2 on 5 January and 12 January 2027. Among the one-year executive programs, IIM Ahmedabad's MBA-PGPX and IIM Bangalore's EPGP also run two rounds. If a two-round school is your target, missing Round 2 means waiting a full year.

What is the difference between Round 1 and Early Action?

Two schools on this page run an early round ahead of Round 1, and the terms differ sharply. Duke Fuqua's Early Action on 2 September 2026 is binding: if admitted you commit to attend and must withdraw every other application. UVA Darden's Early Action on 9 September 2026 offers a choice - binding, which takes a single US$6,000 deposit due 30 November 2026, or non-binding, which leaves you free but still takes US$4,000 on 30 November plus US$2,000 in February. An early round buys a much earlier answer: Darden Early Action decisions land 28 October 2026, six weeks ahead of its Round 1 decisions. But it also starts the deposit clock before any Round 2 school has even closed applications. Darden's Early Action is additionally the only Darden round with limited open interviews, so you can interview without waiting for an invitation. Columbia does not run an early round for 2026-27; its August entry is three standard rounds.

What GMAT score do I need for a top MBA program?

On the current GMAT Focus scale, the M7 schools cluster between 685 and 695, with Stanford GSB at roughly 695 and Harvard at 685. The rest of the US top 25 spans roughly 595 to 690, and the top European and UK programs sit between 615 and 665. Averages are midpoints, not cut-offs. A score 20 to 30 points below a school's average is routinely admitted when the rest of the profile is strong, and Duke Fuqua's published 80 percent range of 625-745 shows how wide a real admitted class actually is. Ask about your specific profile in the MBA application forum.

Are the GMAT scores on this page Focus Edition scores?

Yes. Every GMAT figure on this page is expressed on the current GMAT Focus 205-805 scale. Where a school still publishes its class profile on the older 200-800 scale, the value was translated using the official GMAC concordance table and is marked with a dotted underline - hover it to see the original score. Converted figures are percentile equivalents, accurate to roughly ±10 points, not exact conversions.

When should I take the GMAT for a September 2026 Round 1 deadline?

Sit your first attempt by mid-July 2026 at the latest. That leaves room for one retake - GMAT Focus allows a new attempt after 16 days - with official scores reporting to schools inside the standard window before a Round 1 deadline in early to mid-September. If you are still below target in August, applying in Round 2 with a better score is generally a stronger move than applying in Round 1 with a weak one.

Which MBA programs have rolling admissions?

Among the programs tracked here, IE Business School and SDA Bocconi review applications continuously rather than in fixed rounds, and Emory Goizueta's final round is rolling. IMD runs six rounds across the year rather than four. Rolling does not mean unlimited time - seats and scholarships are committed as offers go out, so an application submitted early in a rolling cycle is materially better positioned than the same application submitted late.

Which Indian MBA programs accept the GMAT?

The Indian School of Business PGP and the one-year executive programs at the IIMs - MBA-PGPX at Ahmedabad, EPGP at Bangalore and MBAEx at Calcutta - all accept the GMAT or GRE and run conventional application rounds. Those four are what this page tracks. The two-year flagship PGP programs at the same IIMs admit through the Common Admission Test instead: there are no application rounds, and a GMAT score will not substitute. We exclude them deliberately rather than list them with dates that do not mean the same thing as everyone else's.

Which MBA programs have a January intake?

Columbia Business School's J-Term, INSEAD's January intake, HEC Paris's January intake and IMD's one-year MBA all start in January rather than the following autumn. Their application calendars run roughly six months ahead of the September-intake ones, which means several January 2027 rounds have already closed - they show as struck-through pills in the tables above. The J-Term suits applicants who do not need a summer internship, since the accelerated format skips it.

What the Deadlines Don't Tell You

9 things we found reading the schools' own admissions pages

Compiling this page meant reading all 25 schools' own admissions pages rather than copying a rankings table. That surfaced a set of rules, cut-offs and definitions that shape outcomes as much as the deadlines do, and that almost never appear in a deadline comparison. Every point below comes from the school's own site; the schools it applies to are named underneath.

The deadline behind the deadline

At several schools the date that decides your outcome falls weeks before the deadline everyone quotes. Dartmouth Tuck guarantees an interview to anyone whose complete application - test scores and references included - is in by 1 September 2026, 23 days before Round 1 closes. Round 2's equivalent is 35 days early. UNC Kenan-Flagler shuts its GMAT/GRE waiver route two to four weeks ahead of every round. Miss it and you cannot apply without a score, whatever the deadline says.

Early-round admits commit real money first

Darden and Duke Fuqua both take Early Action deposits on 30 November 2026 - before Round 2 applications have even closed elsewhere, and four months before most Round 2 decisions. Fuqua's Early Action is binding outright. Columbia charges Round 1 admits US$7,000 against US$3,000 in Round 2 for the same seat. Applying early is free; being admitted early is not.

Four late rounds are closed to international applicants

Vanderbilt Owen stops taking international applications on 1 April 2027, so its 5 May round is domestic-only. Tepper, UNC and UGA Terry all make Round 3 the final round for international candidates. None of it appears in a deadline table - it lives in footnotes. An international applicant scanning Round 4 columns is reading dates they cannot use.

A published decision date means four different things

Booth and Kellogg release on a fixed day. Columbia J-Term reviews on a rolling basis and publishes only the latest you will hear. NYU Stern's date is an initial notification - interview invite, waitlist or denial - not a decision at all. MIT Sloan gives a month, not a date. Read them as equivalent and you will plan around the wrong thing.

Seven of the 25 let you skip the test - but not equally easily

Michigan Ross and UCLA Anderson need no request at all: you simply submit a written case for your quantitative readiness instead of a score, with no pre-approval. Tepper, McCombs and Terry require a request inside the application. UNC runs a hard deadline weeks before the round. Same headline, wildly different difficulty.

The scholarship deadline is not the application deadline

Columbia reserves priority funding consideration for applications complete by Round 1 or Round 2. Emory Goizueta says apply by Round 2 for full scholarship consideration. Terry points merit awards at Round 3. Darden warns that scholarship recipients may face an earlier deposit deadline than the published one. Michigan Ross is the clean exception - merit awards there are made regardless of round.

Round counts are not what schools advertise

Darden runs six deadlines, not four - Early Action, Round 1, Round 2 and three separate Round 3 dates. Tepper runs five. Harvard and MIT Sloan run only two, so a missed Round 2 costs a year. And McCombs advertises a Round 4 that belongs to a different programme entirely - Round 3 is the last full-time MBA deadline.

The application fee is often waivable - and the routes changed this cycle

Applying is rarely full price if you know the route. Michigan Ross, Emory Goizueta and CMU Tepper all waive the fee for attending an admissions event, and Tepper now waives it for re-applicants too. But routes close as well as open: MIT Sloan dropped its event waiver, Forté and financial hardship this cycle, leaving only military and Peace Corps. Two rules apply almost everywhere - sort it out before you pay, because retroactive waivers and refunds are generally refused, and never rely on last year's list. GMAT Club's MBA Spotlight Fair on 17 November 2026 carries waivers from schools that run no event route of their own - Dartmouth Tuck among them - and falls between Round 1 and Round 2, ahead of Tuck's 1 December guaranteed-interview cut-off.

How We Compiled This Data

Every number on this page, and where it came from

Where the deadlines come from

Every date is transcribed from the admitting school's own admissions page - never from aggregators, rankings tables, forum posts or third-party guides. Where a school publishes fixed rounds we list the application closing date. Where it reviews applications continuously we mark the program rolling rather than inventing round dates. Every school's source page is listed below, with the date we last checked it.

Schools that had not yet published a 2026-27 date when we compiled on 25 July 2026 are not left blank. We roll the equivalent date from the previous cycle forward one year and flag it as indicative with a dashed amber pill and an asterisk. That is a planning aid, not a source - confirm it on the school's own site before you build a timeline around it.

How the GMAT scores were derived

Business schools are mid-transition between two GMAT scales, and their class profiles are inconsistent as a result. Some publish on the current GMAT Focus 205-805 scale; others still publish on the retired 10th edition 200-800 scale. Putting both in one column unconverted would make roughly half these schools look 40 to 50 points stronger than the other half for no real reason.

So every figure here is expressed on the Focus scale. Where a school published on the old scale, we translated the value using the official GMAC concordance table, which maps the two scales by percentile rather than by arithmetic. Converted values carry a dotted underline - hover to see the original score. They are percentile equivalents, accurate to roughly ±10 points, and should not be read as exact. School-published Focus figures are used as-is and labelled as an average, a median or an 80% range, whichever the school reported.

GRE figures are Verbal plus Quantitative out of 340, summed where a school reports the two sections separately. We do not convert GRE to GMAT.

Which rank is shown, and why

The US table is the GMAT Club MBA Ranking 2026 top 25 - our own scored ranking picks which schools appear and the order they appear in. Hover any rank to see that school's score out of 100. The US News 2026 position sits underneath for reference, and where a school falls outside the US News top 25 it shows n/r there.

The GC ranking covers US schools only, so UK and European programs use the FT Global MBA 2026 position, and the IIM executive programs carry their institution's NIRF Management 2025 rank, since NIRF ranks the school rather than the individual program. Ranks from different publishers measure different things and are not comparable across regions - a US News 12 and an FT 12 do not mean the same thing.

What we do not claim

Acceptance rates are estimates. Most business schools do not publish an official acceptance rate. The figures here are the most recent widely-reported estimates and should be read as orders of magnitude, not precise numbers. Where a school publishes nothing, we show a dash instead of filling the gap.

Class sizes are the most recent entering class - Class of 2027 for US schools unless labelled otherwise. Recommendation-letter counts come from each school's stated application requirements and were not re-verified school by school this cycle. Several US schools also accept the Executive Assessment; EA acceptance was not verified individually and is not reflected here.

Deadlines are dates only. Cut-off times and time zones differ - Harvard closes at 12:00 noon ET, Wharton at 17:00 ET. Always confirm the exact time on the school's own page.

Source Page for Every School

The admissions page behind each row, and when we last checked it

Open the full source list - 41 school admissions pages, with verification dates

Each row below is the admissions or class-profile page we read to build the corresponding table row. Domains link to the school's own site. Verified means the school has published its 2026-27 dates and we transcribed them directly. Pending means it has not, and the dates shown roll its previous cycle forward one year - those appear as dashed amber pills with an asterisk in the tables above. Full method is in How We Compiled This Data.

Schools change dates without notice. Always confirm on the school's own site before you plan around a date here. If you find a discrepancy, click the date and use Report it - corrections from applicants are the fastest way this page stays accurate.
