I’d appreciate your opinion on my R1 MBA application profile. I have a 705 GMAT Focus score, a 3.95 GPA, and will have around 7 years of work experience at matriculation.
Do you think this gives me a strong chance? What other key factors should I focus on?
Also, is there a chance to schedule an online meeting with a member of the admissions team?
GMAT and your Undergraduate GPA look stellar.
In this 7 years of work experience, you must have done pretty well?
To me, you look an ideal candidate. However, the heartbeat of your applications-essays, resume and Lors- should carefully be taken care of.
Do reach out to us at [email protected] for a profile analysis.
We are industry veteran and placed MBA candidate every where.

Hey The8! Based on what you've shared, (nice) GMAT Focus score of 705, a 3.95 GPA, and approximately 7 years of work experience at the time of matriculation, you can be competitive for top MBA programs, particularly in Round 1, which often offers better odds for both admission and scholarships. But the key will be how you’ve grown over that time, particularly in terms of leadership, team impact, and strategic decision-making. Top business schools care more about the quality of your contributions and the trajectory of your growth.

It is highly recommended to join online webinars, coffee chats, and info sessions, which often allow you to ask questions and hear directly from admissions officers or alumni. You can try to chase and communicate with them via email after the info sessions. Many schools also offer the opportunity to connect with current students or club leaders, which can offer insight into the school’s culture and give you useful material to reference in your essays.

In terms of next steps, we encourage you to focus on building a clear, compelling narrative, supported by strong essays, thoughtful recommender choices, and possibly additional exposure outside of work (such as volunteering, mentoring, or side projects) if those are light areas in your application. We recently hosted a coffee session with one of our applicants who got an admit offer from LBS. If you missed it, you can check out our YouTube channel.

If you’d like, we'd love to tailor this evaluation even more. Feel free to book a profile evaluation session. Looking forward to hearing more about your journey!

Good luck

Hey there, your low GPA is definitely a concern, but a strong GMAT score of 695 can offset it.
Secondly you should show strong indicators of growth after your college, such as leadership positions, awards, recognitions, impact on community.
These are essential to showcase that despite a low GPA you are a great leader and asset to companies.

Hi,
Got 625 in Gmat fe mocks recently. For GMAT FE exam, targeting minimum 685+
I am a tier 2 engineering college graduate from India with 2.7 GPA (69%) and PGDM in Finance with 3 GPA (74%)
4 years of work experience at Sabre as a Product Manager. My main concern is How much would my GPA affect my application. Am I eligible or should I look into other colleges to apply for?

Considering R1, your score and GPA, positions you as a strong candidate. Given you have 7 years of work ex, that also is a good signal.
To make your application strong, establish a clear career goal which builds upon your 7 years of work ex in terms of industry and skills. Also, if you have good leadership experience in terms of leading teams, leading high impact projects, you will have a very strong chance.

For LBS, you can check there student ambassadors on the website. They are very helpful in terms of giving you an overview of LBS classroom and community. To get in touch with admissions team, drop them an email that can be found on the website. Attach your CV and if they like your profile, they will surely get on a call with you to help you understand about the MBA program and clear doubts if you have any. I would also recommend you attend their virtual or in-person events. If you meet someone from AdCom, they seem to remember you.

LBS gives a lot of importance to your undergrad scores and even asks a question about your undergrad performance in the MBA application. You haven't mentioned which LBS program you intend applying to, but there are a few things you should do to strengthen your academic component:
1. professionally, get involved in work that involves a high degree of analytics and quant skills.
2. Score a 685+ GMAT score
Other than this, strengthen your profile on other fronts- professional and extra curricular, so that you come across as a well-rounded applicant

Hey

In GMAT Focus Edition terms, a score of 685 or above would be a strong target to offset your 2.92 GPA for LBS MiM.

Most LBS admits fall in the 655–715 range (Focus Edition), so pushing closer to 700+ can significantly improve your chances — especially as a fresher with a lower GPA. Let me know if you’d like help figuring out how your profile stacks up.

Has anyone asked the adcom or their interviewers when to expect R3 decisions? I have been told that R3 decisions are often sent much earlier than the deadline.

Did everyone in the R3 pool receive an email regarding the event at LBS for admitted students on Tuesday the 17th? A bit awkward to get an invite to the event and then not being offered a spot.

Hello,

Hope you’re doing well. I’m Aanya Jain (LBS Alumni and Interviewer).

At Uni Advise, we helped 2 students with a similar CGPA this year (6.7/10 engineering background and 2.9/4 commerce background). Both had a GMAT of 655+ in the FE.

However, the requirement can be +/- based on the rest of the profile. You can reach out to me to discuss your profile in detail!

Nope, LBS always releases its results on the date mentioned on the website unless specifically requested.

Has anyone ever asked LBS for an early decision due to visa deadlines from another school? I’m wondering if it’s okay to reach out to them and explain that I’m under time pressure because of a visa timeline with another offer. Do they ever accommodate that kind of request?
Hello,

Apologies for the delayed reply! Hope the issue has been sorted by now, but yes they do accommodate such requests.

Regards

Hey Rrs75! For the LBS MiM program, 655+ can be considered competitive, supported by a strong overall profile. For the LBS full-time MBA, a score of 685+ would place an applicant with a low GPA in a stronger position, particularly when paired with a well-rounded application that highlights professional ambition, leadership potential, and clear career goals.

Based on historical trends, LBS typically releases MBA decisions on the official notification date. While some applicants have reported receiving decisions slightly earlier than the official release date, regardless of the round, such instances are exceptions rather than the norm. Therefore, it's advisable to anticipate the decision on the official date. Good luck, everyone!
