Any info on how to set up a campus visit & sit in on a class?

I called the admissions office last week and they said visits begin Sept 5, once classes are in session, and that we'd be able to schedule them on the website "shortly." Far as I can see there has been no action on the website since then. I'd really like to go visit well before the R1 deadline, so I can incorporate what I see into my essays, and because I've seen an admissions rep from Johnson on panel discussions at two different MBA Tour events in the past couple months, and in both cases she underscored how beneficial they consider it to be for applicants to come out to Ithaca before applying.

****

UPDATE: I called again, and was told that the Attend an Admissions event page on their website will have the sit-inable classes once they get the schedule, which will still be a week or so. I was assured though that if I just go ahead and schedule a trip to Ithaca any Monday through Thursday after Sept 5, they will have ample options for classes. My plan now is to simply book a ticket for whenever is best for me in mid-Sept, show up on campus, and sit in on whatever class is convenient. The way I see it, the classes will all be core curriculum anyway, and if I end up at Johnson I'll be taking that very same class a year from now no matter what.

Dear Joel,
Thank you for your email and interest in Johnson. You are correct, class visits will start the first full week of September. You are more than welcome to book your travel arrangements to come to Ithaca. Once class visits are available on-line you will be able to register for a specific class time not a specific class, that will done once you are on campus. Typically all classes in the fall are core classes which all first year students must take.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Best,
Marcie

Thanks Marcie. Unless I am mistaken, it is you whom I just spoke with a short while ago. Thanks for putting the information out there for the good of applicants more broadly. See you in a few weeks!

Great thread!

Dear Marcie,
What is the best round to re-apply? Should I apply in 1st round to show my dedication to school or apply in January to extend my "reapplication history" and show improvements in my profile?
Thank you in advance.

Hello Marcie,

Could you please provide some info about the Number of Applicants in R1,R2 and R3 last year and what % of the applicants (Round-wise) got selected...I just want to know the split as i will be applying for R2 and hence would like to know if applying in R1 has any advantage over doing so in the other rounds :)

Thank you,
LC

Hello Marcie,

1more question. How do you decide where to hold Admission Information sessions. For example, how do you decide which places in India get such opportunity? is it based on the Number of applicants coming from that state or based on strategic location, etc?

Thank you,
LC

Hello Marcie and other readers,

This is a great initiatve and its great that GMAT Club & Cornell have arranged this. Kudos!

I am relatively young (23 years) with just a year & half of work-ex after my engineering graduation. I have great work-ex with amazing experiences since I worked in my family business and have had an amazing exposure.
Since I want to learn more before I progress with business ventures, its the right time for me to do an MBA.
I am worried that my little work experience is weighing my application down esp for the Top Universities (which are my target).

Please advise.

Hi,

I am very keen to do a Cornell University 1 year MBA, from your website I gather that the batch size is around 50.

Are there any plans to increase the Batch size.

Also what are the placements like of 1 year MBA / what % is through Career services.

Is there a possible profile evaluation process for the 1 Year MBA.

We want you to submit your application when you feet it’s complete. Applying to business school takes a lot of self reflection and self direction. Our admissions committee reviews applications from a holistic point of view. On average our yield rate for round one is sixty percent.

We look forward to reading your application.

Good luck,
Marcie

Dear Marcie,

Thanks for the revert, I would miss R1 applications as I am appearing for GMAT only post your R1 deadline.

Would be applying for your R2 - 30th November deadline.

I have a total of over 8 years of work experience - Is that acceptable for your 1 year program or is it beyond the average.

Also I have already done a prior MBA course - Will that be an issue or a Major Red flag.

Hi Marcie,

I have a minor question about the online application form.

The Educational Information page shows the following instruction:
"for reporting your educational records, please specify your chronological order- most recent to oldest"

I have taken a number of courses via extension, as well as a few classes for graduate credit as a visiting student at local universities. Since all of these post-date my undergrad degree, my inclination was to list them first and then have my undergrad degree at the bottom. However, the top box (i.e. "most recent" attendance) is the only one wherein information like "major" and "degree completed" are required. This would suggest that the top box is the place for my undergraduate degree, despite my most recent attendance having been coursework outside of a degree program.

What should I do? List the schools descending in reverse chronological order, contrary to the apparent meaning of the instructions?

Sorry for such a fine-point question. I just thought I'd post it here in case other people are also scratching their heads about this.

Thanks.
